Lydia grew up in the Sumas, WA area and wed the love of her life, Cleo Thomas Turner in 1936. They were married 65 years until Cleo passed away in 2002.

Lydia was a loving Mother and Foster mom to many. Over her lifetime she fostered over 60 children many whom still called her Mom and returned to visit her over the years. She was devoted to her family and worked hard with Cleo to make sure they never wanted for anything. Along with her love for her family and children she also had an immense love for animals and pets. She was always a source of strength and support to all around her. Even during World War II, Lydia worked for Boeing and her family was proud to say she was a Rosie the Riveter.

Lydia loved the outdoors and working in her massive garden consisting of various fruits, vegetables, and beautiful flowers of all types. Her garden on Alabama Hill was renowned for its beauty. She enjoyed photography, fishing, boating, camping and family outings.
