Guy W. Schubert, age 92, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010 in Bellingham. He was born November 20, 1917 in Milton-Freewater, OR to Marquette and Vera Schubert.

He grew up in Milton-Freewater, OR and later moved to Seattle, WA. Guy graduated from Cleveland High School in 1933. He attended the University of WA, School of Pharmacy and graduated in 1937. He was one year shy of the age requirement to practice pharmacy in WA State, so he moved to Juneau to be a pharmacist at the age of 20.

Guy served in the U.S. Military as a Navy Pilot Instructor from 1941-1945.
He married Ruth McCulloch on October 15, 1942. Upon his discharge, they moved to Tacoma, WA where he worked as a drug representative for Parke-Davis. In 1954, Guy and Ruth opened up Schubert’s Westgate Pharmacy, together running their business through 1967.

He loved practical jokes, UW Football, The Mariners, and being surrounded by family. Guy was a devoted husband and father. He valued a college education and was the first in his family to graduate from college. He worked to make sure all his children graduated from college too.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth on August 29, 2009.
He is survived by his children Lois Miles of Bellingham, Mary Schubert of Kirkland, Mark (Barb) Schubert of Seattle and Marcia (John) McWilliams of Bellingham; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; nine great grandchildren; and sister Wilberta Everham of Richland, WA.

The family would like to thank all of his caregivers at Mt. Baker Care Center and Whatcom Hospice for their care and kindness.
