Joan M. Hestnes

June 30, 1929 - July 18, 2010

Birthplace: Topeka, Kansas

Resided in: Bellingham, Washington

Joan Hestnes passed away on July 18, 2010. She was born in June of 1929 in Topeka Kansas. A homemaker most of her life, Joan was the sweetest and most kind woman you would ever want to meet. She was always taking care of everyone and was an eternal optimist.

She married Robert Elwood Hestnes on February 16, 1948 and they had three children, Robert Edward Hestnes, Denise Hestnes and Janiece (Dennis) Reilly. She had one grandson, Nicholas Reilly. She also is survived by two loving sisters, Janice Holmes and Joyce (Jim) Rogers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan loved to travel and vacationed in Hawaii and Europe with her husband. They were “snowbirds” for many years, traveling to warmer weather in the winter, and had a home in Yuma, AZ.   In recent years, Joan also made a trip to China.

Her specialty was baking pies, in addition to being a wonderful cook.
She was a talented artist who created beautiful oil paintings and loved all animals, especially dogs.

The family would like to thank special friends Barb and Dianne Rappaport. We would also like to thank Ridgemont AFH and Highland Nursing Home that made Joan’s last days meaningful and comfortable.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity of your choice
There will be a service held at a later date.
