            Edith Marie Simmonds, 73, of Lummi Nation, passed away at her home on July 20, 2010.  She was born Feb. 16, 1937. 

Edith worked for Lummi Indian Business Council as a Community Health Representative for 19 years.  Her hobbies included playing Bingo and the casino, and she enjoyed making cedar baskets and hats with her daughters.

Edith is survived by her husband, Ward Simmonds, Sr.; children, Francis H. (Clarissa A.) Martin, Isabelle G. (Lee A.) Plaster, David A (Karen K.) Martin, Sr., Ward C. (Theresa Lawrence) Simmonds, Jr., Veronica A. (Christopher Oldham) Simmonds, Roman G. Simmonds, and Ursula D. (Bernie Hillaire) Simmonds.  She was preceded in death by her father, Cyril Warbus LaClair; mother, Gertrude Wilbur; daughters, Nancy Marie Martin and Debra Helen Martin; and son, Eric Sean Simmonds.  Edith had a total of 40 grandchildren plus numerous great grandchildren.

Our Heavenly Father blessed us all with this woman whom we are all going to miss very very much.  I pray God’s angels protect her on her journey home.  I pray peace be with you, Mom.
