February 3, 1932 - July 2, 2010
 
Bellingham resident Dorothy Elaine Turner, 78, passed away Friday July 2nd at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham after a battle with caner. The daughter of Kenneth & Myrtle Sweet was born February 3, 1932 in Minot, ND. In 1935 she moved to Bellingham with her family. She attended Marietta Grade School and graduated from Bellingham High in 1950.  Dorothy worked at Montgomery Wards for 14 years and then at Columbia Place for 26 years where she retired in May of this year. She was a very caring person and made a difference in the lives of the residents there.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her father; mother; John Barber; brothers Russell (Wayne) Sweet & Lyle Sweet; sister in-law Eva Sweet; and brother in-laws George Fretwell & Bob Fisher. Dorothy is survived by her husband Ralph Turner; sons John Barber, Jim Barber, Rick Barber, Jerry Barber; daughters Kris (Hank) Bennett and Dianne (Paul) Carter; 5 grandsons; 3 great-grandkids; sisters Alice Fretwell, Norma Fisher, & Sharon (Laddie) Harvey; sister in-law Ruth Sweet and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life on Saturday July 17th from 1:00 - 4:00 at the Tillicum House at Pioneer Park in Ferndale.
