Cleo Ogle
Cleo “Jean” Ogle, 80, of Bellingham, passed away on July 13, 2010 at St. Francis Extended Health Care after a brief illness. Jean was born January 2, 1930 in Ellensburg, WA to Charles and Rose (Schwangler) Davis, the second of three girls. She attended elementary school in a one room country schoolhouse and enjoyed sharing stories of those days. The family later moved to Wenatchee, where she graduated from high school. She received her BA in Business Administration from Washington State College, now WSU, and she was proud to be a Cougar. She married Richard Ogle in 1958 and became an instant mother to his two young children. They had two more children and raised their family on a small orchard in Wenatchee, while she also worked as an accountant. They moved to Bellingham in 1972 and she became office manager at Wilson Imports, where she remained until her retirement. She and Richard divorced in 1978. A few years ago, she re-connected with an old college beau, John Carlson, but they only had a short time together before he passed away. Jean loved to read, especially mysteries, and she passed that love on to her children. She also loved to travel and meet new people. She enjoyed going on several mystery themed cruises, where she got to meet some of her favorite mystery authors, solve mysteries on board ship and also make many life-long friends. She also loved to cook and bake, especially for groups of family and friends. Jean will be greatly missed by many family members, friends and neighbors. These include daughters, Deanna Ogle and Krista (Mark) Florer; son, Randy (Shelia) Ogle; grandchildren, Staci (Jeff) Barnes, Kelsey (Dustin) Thomas, Corrin Ogle; great-grandchildren, Tyler Barnes and Azura Ogle; nieces, Cynthia (Keith) Bly, Mona Alfrey, and Susan Boje; nephews, David Miller and Douglas Miller; and many great nieces and nephews. She also took many others under her wing as “adopted” kids over the years. Three extra special ones are Dianne Anderson, Tracey Bennett and Randy Russell, who remain honorary members of the family. She was preceded in death by her son, Bart Ogle and sisters, Dorothy Boje and Shirley Miller. No funeral is planned but a celebration of life party will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Harborview Burn Center Fund, UW Medicine Advancement, Attn: Jennifer Hazelbrook, 815 Mercer St. C-5, Box 358045, Seattle, WA 98109. If you would like to attend the celebration of life party, please let us know here in the online guest book.
