Q’e solie, Margaret Elizabeth Pierre, was born May 7th, 1926, in Bellingham, WA to August Francis and Anne Celeste (Wapato John) Pierre Sr. She passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2010. She was 84 years old. She is survived by her children Shirley Ann (husband, Jim) Bunton; Sharon Elizabeth Coss; and Susan Margaret (husband Jim) Hillaire and son, Dennis Arthur (wife Penny) Coss. She was blessed with 18 Grandchildren; 38 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great, Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was an active participant of traditional Lummi spirituality and respectfully honored many other Native American ceremonial beliefs and celebrations; Baptized at Church of the Assumption in Bellingham, Washington on June 20th, 1926; an active parishioner of St. Joachiam’s Catholic Church and member of “Q’e solie” prayer warrior group. Her educational accomplishments included an Associates Degree from Northwest Indian College in 1993 and a professional career consisting of 25 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse and 20 years as a Certified Chemical Dependency Specialist. As the youngest of 12, Margaret is preceded in death by her father, August Pierre Sr.; mother, Anne Wapato John Pierre; Son, David Williams; and her 11 siblings. Margaret was a strong-minded leader of traditional values. She loved to travel and made fond memories in Hawaii; San Francisco and Tulalip. She cherished sharing meals with others. She was fond of music and enjoyed singing with the church choir. She was a devoted fan of Kateri Tekakwitha; Seattle Mariners and the Young and the Restless. Keep it simple
