Judy Ellen Trueman, age 60 of Custer, went to be with our Lord and Savior unexpectedly on June 21, 2010, at her home in Custer, Washington.

Judy was born on December 10, 1949, in Sacramento, California, and was the second born of seven children to Robert Luther Stroud and Florence Lorraine Weeks. She met and married the love of her life, Melvan Henry Trueman, on March 7, 1973. They had two children together, William Travis Trueman and James Alex Trueman, both of Custer, Washington.

Melvan and Judy briefly lived in Oregon and Wyoming. Realizing the importance of family they moved to Whatcom County in order to be closer. Melvan’s mother, Opal Trueman, gave them a home in the early 1980's where they raised a family and eventually purchased their dream home, where Judy lived out the remainder of her days.

One of her greatest loves was being around and caring for children which included the light of her life, granddaughter, Baylee Rose Trueman. Such was her love of children that she was the neighborhood babysitter. She continued these relationships with “her kids” up until her passing. She was also an avid collector of lighthouses and had over 100 in her collection. Judy never let an episode go unwatched of “The Young and The Restless.”

Judy spent most of her time as a homemaker, loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She devoted herself to her family, often giving more then she should. Judy will be remembered for her giving spirit, strength of character, and her ability to make the most out of what she had and not always what she needed.

Preceding Judy in death are her parents, Robert Stroud and Florence Weeks, and her sister, Diana Crawford. Judy is survived by her husband, Melvan; sisters, Karen and Lisa; brothers, Danny, Ed, and Dale; children, William Travis and James Alex; and her beloved granddaughter, Baylee Rose.

Special thanks go to all of Judy's many family and friends for their love and support through the years. Without you, dear family and friends, her life would not have been nearly as rich over the years.

A memorial service will be held at Moles Funeral Home, 2039 Main St, Ferndale, at 2 p.m., Monday, June 28.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Judy’s name to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 or by their website at www.diabetes.org.
